3月19日 Wow, we're in stereo?First blog in ages. xD
Well I'm only doing this because I had a dream I remembered for the first time in a few months. In the dream I think I was at school. All my friends were around me sitting in chairs around their tables. We appeared to be in a lesson and the teacher was speaking to the others, asking questions and such. Then he spoke to me and it was strange. I didn't know what to say... so I just closed my eyes. The dream gradually got darker and darker. I could hear my friends telling me to stop, to wake up. They were shaking me and calling loudly at me. I could feel myself sinking into the darkness and a big grin spread across my face. Then I awoke and I was screaming, not in the dream but in my bed. I screamed out loud and there were tears streaming down my face. I was crying for no apparent reason. That's pretty fucked up, yo!
On another note, I recently turned 18 and 2 weeks ago I went to a party, got severely drunk and smashed my face in. Good times, good times. -nods nods- 10月20日 Harry Hill's still got it! ^_^Just saw Harry Hill's live show at the Hexagon in Reading yesterday. Wow. 0_o'
When I first found out that I'd be seeing Mr Hill perform live, I was at first, a little sceptical. Although I'd been a fan of his a few years back when he had a show on Channel 4, recently his roles on the telly have not been fantastic. His old show had it all. Funny and very entertaining to watch; it was comprised of the sort of oddball humour that you'd probably expect from a crazed lunatic. Yet for reasons unbeknownst, the show was cancelled meaning Harry had to move onto lesser programs. Although his appearance in ITV's 'TV Burp' and 'You've Been Framed' have made these shows amusing, they fail to display the full potential and range of his skills. Which is why it's great to see he's back on form in his live show.
At the start of the show, Harry jumps onto the stage with a crude panto horse and prances around rather foolishly. Upon seeing the horse I just shrank into my seat as I witnessed the comedy giant reduced to silly, childish antics. However as the show progressed, Harry started using his better jokes such as ones involving his mother's death, his trip in a space shuttle and his encounter with a drunk, seaside monkey. And all the time he kept reciting modern music and catchphrases: "Mmmmmm... Danone.", whilst dancing around the entire, and I mean entire, stage. I can't really recall all his jokes as it's all a fun-filled blur now but an example of one of his short, snappy jokes is: "I returned home one night to find my dad was putting his feet up... he'd hanged himself." Even his mad intro with the horse seems really funny now - probably due to it's absurdity. And at the end of the show, he even brought out a set of horns and played pop anthems and TV themes by himself, then later with his two goons, 'The Harrys', as a trio. Brilliant!
Overall, it was the best stand-up performance that I've ever seen. Seriously. I rate this show very highly and would recommend it to those who don't really care for politics or intellectual jokes, and prefer random, maniacal stories and strangeness that can really put a smile across your face.
PS: I was quite surprised to see on the Harry Hill website that Lenny Henry & Dawn French had been at the show, which is nice.
8月17日 Hong Kong rules!Just got back to England after my holiday to HK. Well, actually I got back on saturday, but I didn't really have time to write a blog til now. So anyway, enough about my laziness when it comes to updating my space and onto Hong Kong. ¬_¬'
'Fantastic', 'fun' and 'inspiring' are all words I'd use to describe my latest holiday. To be honest, it was probably the best vacation I've ever been on. There was just so much to do - not to mention, buy lol. Yes, it's true. I did go shopping mad while I was there, but I can justify myself. Pretty much everything in HK was cheaper than if you were to buy it in England, and the specific anime merchandise I wanted couldn't even be found in English shops. So with these reasons assuring me, I bought stuff like a mad man.
I'll post pictures of the stuff I got at a later date, because at the moment I don't really know how to work my dad's Sony DVD camcorder. Don't think that I'm just being stupid, I'm actually just being very lazy. I could read the manual for the camcorder but, yeh, the lazy thing. This camcorder was also bought in HK, which was pretty cool as it was about £200 cheaper than if we'd bought it in England. See what I mean about stuff being cheap? Exactly.
What my family did in HK was far more interesting than what we normally do, which is to sit around a relative's house, bored out of our skulls. We went on tour coaches all around the islands, seeing all the sights and tasting all the food. It was great as the tours were cheap, seeing as food and transport was included. The food was soooo good! We had seafood or dim sum everyday and it was all really, really cheap!! Which was nice.
On one of the last days, we got to go to the Ocean World theme park which was huge! It was split into 2 sections - one part on top of the mountain, the other at the bottom of a valley. Although the rides were enjoyable, the best thing was the dolphin show which was amazing! I've seen dolphins do tricks on TV, but when you watch them up close they're even more astounding. :D
So that pretty much sums up my blog about HK, although I'll probably add more info when I remember it. On returning to England, something quite interesting happened. Because the British Airways ground staff were on strike at Heathrow, our Qantas plane was diverted to Frankfurt in Germany lol. This was a bit of a shock to me, as I didn't think these sort of strikes would ever affect me, but there you go. Frankfurt was a bit boring. We got to stay in a 5-star hotel and the food was free, but there wasn't anything to do! My brother and I just slept or watched German TV, which was crap as we didn't know what the hell they were saying!! Luckily, we managed to catch an early flight back to England the next day.
On returning to Reading, I began watching these Naruto VCDs I bought in HK. I was surprised when I started watching them, as I didn't know that Naruto had already been dubbed into cantonese. The dubbing's not actually half bad, but it still pales in comparison to the japanese version. Kakashi's voice is done well, but most of the other characters have voices that just aren't emotive enough. I've got VCDs up to episode 52, so there's a long way to go, but it's already getting quite addictive lol.
Also when I got back, I immediately watched the remake of the Guyver anime, called Guyver: The Bioboosted Armour. It's great so far, and it was about time that somebody did remake the Guyver, as the first anime just didn't do the manga justice. The new one looks sleek with much better visuals and animation. The opening theme song, Waiting For..., is also excellent and really suits this particular anime. Definitely a series to watch.
7月28日 Exactly one month later...I realise that I haven't updated this space for a long time, but I was kind of waiting until the summer holidays began before I started to contribute a bit more. So here we go. Quite a lot has happened since the 28 June, (geez, that was a whole month ago ¬_¬') and I'll attempt to make up for the lost time with this blog.
The first thing that happened was that I signed up for an eBay account and bought a Creative Zen Portable Media Centre. It is so cool!! ^_^ I just love it! When I was bidding for it, I was struggling to decide whether I should get a PSP instead but in the end I think I opted for the machine that I liked the most. I already have a Gameboy DS, so I figured that I didn't really need another handheld console. Anyway, the Media Centre has a 20 gigabyte hard drive and can store pictures, music and video. At the moment, I've got 2 movies on it (Hellboy and Sin City), some cartoons (Family Guy and American Dad), some anime (Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach and Naruto), some Berserk manga scanslations, 50 songs, and some other random videos and pictures from funny websites. All this content comes to 3.27 GB meaning it can hold so much more! I love this machine!
Apart from getting this snazzy device, some other things probably happened during the past month, but right now I'm too tired to remember them; I'll probably just re-tell those events in a later blog.
The last thing I'll say is that this week I watched Dead Leaves, Read or Die and rather randomly, Men in Black 2. They were all surprisingly good movies, especially Dead Leaves which was like a rollercoaster ride of stylish explosions and violence. Very nice indeed. Read or Die also lived up to my expectations and turned out to be an action packed adventure story full of superhuman villains, which were weird, yet wonderful. And finally the only non-anime film I watched, which was MIIB. It was surprisingly good actually, after I had been told by my colleague - William Whitley - that it was a 'shambles of a movie'. I felt that although the story was pretty awful, the comedic moments allowed the film to be enjoyable and fun to watch. My brother certainly liked it, lol. Until next time, cyas! >^_^<
6月28日 Duke of EdinburghJust returned from my D of E expedition to the Peak District and to be honest, it was great fun!
It started at 4 PM on Friday until about 9:30 PM on Monday. PHEW!! It was quite tiring, especially with all those hills to climb, then having to endure the 5 hour coach trips to and from Reading. Well in the end it was definitely worth it. Passed the expeditions as the assessor told us we had on the last day, which was kinda cool. But now that I'm back home, myself and a school-friend called Pavan (AKA Pav the Chav), will have to wrap things up as we're the ones who volunteered to write up our group report... *sigh*.. No rest for the wicked...
![]() 6月19日 UpdatesI found an MSN space called 'Hack MSN Spaces' and had a quick look at it. To my surprise, it was actually a very interesting and useful site. There you can learn to customise your space and basically 'hack' into it easily. The site can be found at: http://spaces.msn.com/members/d3vmax/
Well that's about it in terms of the site, but there is one thing that's really bugging me at the moment - I just can't believe that I've still got 5 weeks until summer vacation!!! >:( My GuestbookThank you for visiting my space and taking the time to sign my guestbook. However I do ask that you only sign it once, please. Leave any details you wish, along with your comments. Thanks!
5月29日 Sin City is bloody awesome!I just watched Sin City today and it was wicked! :D It has got to be the must-see film of the year, unless they make something better, which I doubt. It was just so cool, as cool as pulp fiction I'd say. Although based on graphic novels, Sin City is a lot seedier and darker than most comic superhero movies, like Spiderman. When I watched it, it kinda reminded me of old gangster films that I've seen, but in a very saturated sort of way - as if all the best gangsta stuff had been squished together. And it's bloody - boy is it bloody. The action scenes are very well executed and a lot of skulls get cracked to say the least! What is surprising about the film is that it is so god damn stylish. I wouldn't be able to explain how it's done, but there's a lot of black and white and the use of shadows is amazing. Overall a fantastic film, that is definitely in my top five. Rating: 10/10 5月25日 The End of Berserk?Just finished watching the last episode of Berserk, and to be honest I felt kinda disappointed. The reason for this was that the series had been left on such a huge cliffhanger, leaving the audience thinking: "What, was that it?" Well that's how I felt. But I knew better than to judge an anime just from the last episode. Berserk is a truly amazing series, not to mention one of the bloodiest too. The action is continuous & intense, but in between their campaigns, the characters are given a chance to shine. They convey their thoughts & feelings extremely well, allowing for some very good character development - especially in the relations between Griffith, Guts & Caska. I would recommend this anime to people who like gory action & great story-telling, because the plot is fantastic. It's a simple rags to riches story, about Griffith's rise in status from peasant to nobleman, through his trusty army, the Band of the Hawk. Obviously the plot isn't that simple, and is filled with corruption, jealousy & assassination attempts to spice things up. Overall, it was an excellent anime which was basically only Berserk: Series One. I guess I'll just have to stick with the manga to carry on the story. Ho hum. 5月16日 Thus begins 3 weeks of exams...The AS level exams are nearly here... *sigh*, which means lots of people are gonna have to start doing some work (including me!). My subjects are Maths, Chemistry, Biology & History, which basically means i have a helluva lotta reading to do, bub. There's no way out of it, but i think it's better to just get them out of the way asap. Then the next few weeks I can just relax... Well I've gotta start my revision now cos my first exams are on the 23rd of May - 1 week! Toodaloo & good luck to those who are in my position! >^_^< 5月9日 New Season Of Family Guy!! BOOYAH!!! :DI just watched the first episode of Family Guy Season 4 and it was amazing! I'd say it was one of the funniest episodes out there and I own seasons 1-3 so I should know. It was just a fantastic come-back show to say the least, and it illustrates how Family Guy has still got the magic and appeal that it had before it was cancelled. Absolutely wikid episode, and if you haven' seen it yet, download it as soon as possible - seriously. It is that good! :D Can't wait to see how the rest of the series turns out! 4月28日 Waterstones Refund MadnessThis happened probs 2 weeks ago but it's still a funny and recent incident, so I thought I'd blog about it :) Well the story goes like this... In early october 2004, i bought 2 'How to draw manga' books from the Waterstones bookshop in Reading, England; which i payed for in advance. They said it would probably take 2-3 weeks for my order to arrive cos they needed to import the books. But after 2 weeks I went in to check if they had arrived yet, but to my horror Now this is the funny bit! XD 2 weeks ago, I got a phonecall telling me my order from october had arrived at Waterstones. This was stupid cos I'd already cancelled the order and it was now april 2005! 6 months later!!! LOL Anyhow i went along with the 'con' and picked up the books. Next day, i returned them and got £25! All through the ignorance of Waterstones! 3月24日 Hagane No Renkinjitsushi Finished! Finally managed to finish FMA! Took me absolutely ages, but I got there in the end :) To be quite frank, it was the best anime series I've seen, and that's the truth. The final ten episodes were really good at wrapping up the whole series, and it didn't feel like the ending was rushed when I watched them, which is unlike many series. Really cool stuff. The way everything fitted together was wicked, like how the 2 brothers regained their bodies and how most of the evil dudes were killed off. Nice... Anyway, the ending kinda left the series on a cliffhanger, with Ed and Alphonse in two seprate dimensions. which opens the way for the FMA movie and hopefully second series :D Cant wait! 3月5日 End: GungraveFinally finished Gungrave! It was a great series with lots of action and probs some of the best character development I've seen. The only thing that could make it better would be if they had made the series longer!!! The last few episodes seemed kinda compressd together. Ah well...whatcha gonna do? Still an excellent anime nonetheless. |
