10月20日 Harry Hill's still got it! ^_^Just saw Harry Hill's live show at the Hexagon in Reading yesterday. Wow. 0_o'
When I first found out that I'd be seeing Mr Hill perform live, I was at first, a little sceptical. Although I'd been a fan of his a few years back when he had a show on Channel 4, recently his roles on the telly have not been fantastic. His old show had it all. Funny and very entertaining to watch; it was comprised of the sort of oddball humour that you'd probably expect from a crazed lunatic. Yet for reasons unbeknownst, the show was cancelled meaning Harry had to move onto lesser programs. Although his appearance in ITV's 'TV Burp' and 'You've Been Framed' have made these shows amusing, they fail to display the full potential and range of his skills. Which is why it's great to see he's back on form in his live show.
At the start of the show, Harry jumps onto the stage with a crude panto horse and prances around rather foolishly. Upon seeing the horse I just shrank into my seat as I witnessed the comedy giant reduced to silly, childish antics. However as the show progressed, Harry started using his better jokes such as ones involving his mother's death, his trip in a space shuttle and his encounter with a drunk, seaside monkey. And all the time he kept reciting modern music and catchphrases: "Mmmmmm... Danone.", whilst dancing around the entire, and I mean entire, stage. I can't really recall all his jokes as it's all a fun-filled blur now but an example of one of his short, snappy jokes is: "I returned home one night to find my dad was putting his feet up... he'd hanged himself." Even his mad intro with the horse seems really funny now - probably due to it's absurdity. And at the end of the show, he even brought out a set of horns and played pop anthems and TV themes by himself, then later with his two goons, 'The Harrys', as a trio. Brilliant!
Overall, it was the best stand-up performance that I've ever seen. Seriously. I rate this show very highly and would recommend it to those who don't really care for politics or intellectual jokes, and prefer random, maniacal stories and strangeness that can really put a smile across your face.
PS: I was quite surprised to see on the Harry Hill website that Lenny Henry & Dawn French had been at the show, which is nice.
5月29日 Sin City is bloody awesome!I just watched Sin City today and it was wicked! :D It has got to be the must-see film of the year, unless they make something better, which I doubt. It was just so cool, as cool as pulp fiction I'd say. Although based on graphic novels, Sin City is a lot seedier and darker than most comic superhero movies, like Spiderman. When I watched it, it kinda reminded me of old gangster films that I've seen, but in a very saturated sort of way - as if all the best gangsta stuff had been squished together. And it's bloody - boy is it bloody. The action scenes are very well executed and a lot of skulls get cracked to say the least! What is surprising about the film is that it is so god damn stylish. I wouldn't be able to explain how it's done, but there's a lot of black and white and the use of shadows is amazing. Overall a fantastic film, that is definitely in my top five. Rating: 10/10 5月9日 New Season Of Family Guy!! BOOYAH!!! :DI just watched the first episode of Family Guy Season 4 and it was amazing! I'd say it was one of the funniest episodes out there and I own seasons 1-3 so I should know. It was just a fantastic come-back show to say the least, and it illustrates how Family Guy has still got the magic and appeal that it had before it was cancelled. Absolutely wikid episode, and if you haven' seen it yet, download it as soon as possible - seriously. It is that good! :D Can't wait to see how the rest of the series turns out! |
